This makes total sense. The fact that whenever Virat was reaching more than 10-15 balls in an inning, I had the hunch that a wicket is on its way. It’s because he would want a release shot after 10-15 balls and everytime while doing so, he got out. In Melbourne he showed lots of composure but due to runout, he wanted to feel at ease and again tried to look for that release shot and got out. Whoever from Australia found this issue should be hailed as a very astute cricketing mind person.
Man this was clearly visible to me even in NZ series, his monopoly of taking singles doubles at will has not been in sight for long. He seems to go into shell or rather opposition have identified this of not giving easy singles to him. That's what makes him drive that outside ball, where he sees it as an opportunity to score. But also he is getting out by not only driving but also getting committed on front foot and not having time to get back, and ends up poking it. This has been visible to me even in odis..That too in ODI World cup..I his prime, Kohli would be batting at SR of 75+ after 20 balls in odi .that seems to have gone down to 50ish...Clear indication he is finding it tough in odis also .But ODI very heavily skewed in favour of batsmen. These sort of major batting adjustments cannot be done in international cricket overnight, he should have planned for it 3-4 years back ... Yes, he's always a limited player on the offside ,mostly dependent on singles or quick twos. It was evident from his wagon wheel as well. Now unfortunately, its too late in his career for him, you can't allow a 37 year old player to learn playing square cuts against quicks and come back in international cricket. We have lots of talents like Jaiswal , Gaekwad , lets try them out and bid both Kohli/Rohit farewell.

Kohli's frontfoot dominant batting style works best for him in ODIs, that's the reason he's never really went into slump in that format for long period unlike in test cricket where one needs to have variety of scoring shots for both pacers & spinners which Kohli lacks currently... At his peak, his outstanding handeye coordination masked the flaws in his technique but now that he's aged, so only the flaws are haunting him...
